*Cancellation of Regional Qualifier 2 - March 21, 2020*

Southern Arizona Chess Association (SACA) must unfortunately announce that the 2020 Regional Qualifier 2, scheduled March 21, 2020, at Harelson Elementary School has been cancelled.
By recommendation of Tucson Mayor Regina Romero’s recent statement that “..events with expected attendance of at least 50 people should be postponed”, SACA’s board of directors met this week and the decision to cancel was unanimous. The City of Tucson’s guidelines are in place until at least March 31, 2020.
SACA fully supports that the health, safety, and well-being of all players, parents, extended family members, coaches, and tournament staff supersedes holding this next tournament. We do hope to reschedule the tournament and will continue to monitor our local, state, and federal government recommendations, but do not have a date at this time.
The SACA Board of Directors understands that this will impact players and their opportunity to qualify for the Arizona State Scholastic Chess Championships. We recommend contacting the Arizona Chess Federation (ACFI) with any questions or concerns about qualification requirements.
Refunds will be processed and your full entry fee will be returned. Please contact the SACA board at scholastic@sazchess.org with any questions. We appreciate your understanding.
